Maintenance Technician

Based on a traditional engineering site, Elektron’s facility in West Molesey is home to the production of an interesting and diverse range of products, ranging from CNC & Press Machines to paint quality testing and ophthalmic testing equipment.

The primary function of this role is to ensure planned, preventative and reactive maintenance is carried out on all Press Shop equipment and its facilities to enable it to meet the demands of production to support the sites internal and external customers. Supplementary to this the Maintenance Technician will support within the Press Shop and around the site wherever possible.

Duties Include:

  • Maintenance of machines including press equipment
  • Support the Maintenance and Facilities Manager when required
  • Investigating and implementing improvements to the facilities and equipment
  • Completing PUWER risk assessments and implementing any corrective actions
  • Any other reasonable request

Health & Safety:

  • Ensure a high standard of housekeeping is maintained in your working area
  • Ensure all guarding and safety equipment is in place and used when needed
  • Personal protective equipment to be worn when required including safety glasses, steel toe cap boots etc
  • Report all health and safety or maintenance issues


Skills, Experience and Knowledge:

  • The ability to work well under pressure
  • Effective communication skills
  • Motivated individual who is flexible and willing to learn continuous best practice
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and positive attitude
  • Excellent organisational, time management and attention to detail skills
  • Comfortable in being able work alone and/or within a team environment, contributing and sharing best practices, resources and ideas in order to continually improve
  • Have the ability to work to set standards and procedures
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and fault find
  • PLC programming experience advantageous
  • Modification of machinery including Presses to enhance production levels and identify faults i.e. silver detection, etc
  • Welding Gas, Arc, TIG and MIG (not essential but advantageous)
